Promo: Spring Festival 2014

Did you notice something different in the reindeer gifts?

These Red Envelopes are known as Hong Bao in Mandarin. Hong Bao are envelopes containing cash, given to children and unmarried adults during Spring Festival/Chinese New Year.
And now...what are these Red Envelopes for?? The answer is in the latest promo page.

Tap the Gift Box.

A new promo page called Spring Festival will appear. This promo has started and it will end on 10 February 2014. Do you see five octopus dressed in colorful lion costumes? These are called Nian (literally translated as "year" in Mandarin). Your goal is to defeat five different colors of Nian, in order to claim a special gift - a little horse!

Go to the second promo page. The little horse is shown here, surrounded by 5 colors crystal ball. You can redeem this horse once you have collected one each of the 5 colors crystal ball.

Are you ready to fight Nian? Let's return to the first promo page. This page also shows the number of Red Envelopes you have collected so far. Once you have at least two Red Envelopes, you can play this promo game.

To fight a Nian, you need to use two Red Envelopes each time. Tap COME OUT to summon a Nian and tap CONFIRM on the pop up message.

A Nian will appear on the left side of the promo page. The Nian shown here is green. You will also need gems to defeat Nian. The possible rewards for defeating Nian include a crystal ball, shell vouchers, XP and coins. Please take note that there is no guarantee of getting a crystal ball each time.

Tap BEAT MONSTER and CONFIRM on the pop up message.

Sometimes this Nian is not yet knocked out in the first round. You will have to fight Nian the second round, after waiting for 5 minutes.

After you have defeated a Nian, you can claim your reward. Tap on GET REWARD. If you are rewarded with a crystal ball, it will automatically be added to the second promo page. If you are rewarded with shell vouchers, XP or coins, they will be sent through the system message.

Hurry and defeat Nian before it runs away after 10 February!

Daily Checkin' Stamps: Extra 10 stamps

Do you wish to have more stamps to exchange for cool items?
Happy Fish rewards players with extra 10 stamps each month, if you have collected 27 stamps each month.
This is rather confusing for most players, so I'm going to spell it out clearly for you today.

I am going to use the calendar for January 2014 as an example for this tutorial. This is how the calendar looks like on 1 January 2014.

You need to tap on STAMP IT, the yellow button at the bottom of the calendar.

Do you notice a small red stamp appearing on number "1"?

Tap on STAMP IT every day. A red stamp will appear on each day, like the calendar shown below.

If you did not miss any days, when you reach 27 January, the GET REWARD button will turn green. Tap on GET REWARD to claim your extra 10 stamps.

If you tap on GET REWARD and the word changes to MESSAGE SENDING for a long time, close and reopen the promo page. If MESSAGE SENDING still appears, try to claim your extra 10 stamps a few hours later.

If you claim your extra 10 stamps successfully, GET REWARD will change to CLAIMED. Check to make sure that your total stamps has increased by 10 stamps.

More Tips

Tip #1: To qualify for the extra 10 stamps, you need to collect minimum 27 stamps out of the entire month. It is all right if you miss certain days, as long as you can still get 27 stamps for that month.

Tip #2: To be on the safe side, take a photo of your calendar before and after you claim your extra 10 stamps. If your number of stamps remain the same, at least you can provide Happy Fish admin with the proof that the GET REWARD feature is not working.

Tip #3: Please collect your extra 10 stamps by the last day of the month, the earlier, the better. You cannot collect your extra 10 stamps any more if you wait for the first day of the next month.

Tip #4: If you do not tap on the GET REWARD button, Happy Fish is not going to give you your extra 10 stamps automatically, even if you have collected 27 stamps. You have to get it yourself. Self service.

Daily Checkin' Stamps: Carry forward stamps

When I first started playing Happy Fish, I used up all my stamps to exchange for items. I thought that the unused stamps would be forfeited at the end of the month. Well, thank goodness I was wrong...

At the end of December 2013, I had 129 stamps.

On the first day of January 2014, I still had 129 stamps. Amazing huh?

My advice? Well, exchange your stamps wisely. Keep some stamps for rainy days. Let's say you miss a few days of stamp for this month. No big deal because you still have leftover stamps from the last month.

Let's just hope Happy Fish stick to this system...fingers crossed.

Friends: Deleting Friends

Do you have friends that you want to delete from your friends list?
Friends that never have fish with gems in their tank?
Friends that have fish with gems, but you can produce those gems by yourself?

This is the tank of one of my friends, he or she never leaves me any gems to collect. Even Piazolla is embarrassed of this and hides himself behind his musical instrument... [don't worry, I didn't delete this friend...this is merely an example of why you would want to delete a friend].

Regardless of your reasons, let me show you how it is done.

P.S. If you are a kind hearted soul who does not want to delete your friends, but would want to avoid visiting certain friends, learn to use the FAVOURITE function instead. Otherwise, you could always drop your friend a message and share this article on uploading gems @
http://bit.ly/1hnLMn5

Solution
Step 1: Look for the friend whom you wish to delete.

Step 2: Tap and hold your finger on the player icon for 2 seconds.

Step 3: All the icons will begin to wobble/wiggle/shake (this is similar to deleting an app from any iOS device) and "X" will appear on the top left corner of every player icon.

Step 4: Tap the "X" on the player's picture which you want to delete.

Step 5: A window will appear, informing you that by removing (deleting) the player, you will also be removed (deleted) from his/her friends list. Tap on YES if you are sure of your actions, or NO if you have regretted.

WARNING: This action cannot be undone; unless you have written down the ID of your friend to add him/her back later.
DISCLAIMER: None of my friends have been deleted during the process of writing this tutorial.

Golden Dolphin: When does it come?

One of the mini games for Happy Fish is the GOLDEN DOLPHIN game.
This golden dolphin visits your tank every day.

Many players thought that this golden dolphin comes randomly. Guess what? It is not that random...
Happy Fish (Taiwan version) claims that the golden dolphin comes three times a day. Here is a Google-English-translated version of the Happy Fish (Taiwan version) website about the "legendary Golden Dolphin". Please read the part on "Golden rain".

Notice that this website mentions the golden dolphin coming every morning, afternoon and evening at a specific time, but so far I have only met the golden dolphin twice a day.
Lucky for you that I have managed to track down this golden dolphin! Yeah!

The first visit of the golden dolphin occurs between 11:00 to 13:00 (11.00AM to 1.00PM) in Taiwan. The corresponding time is:
GMT - 12 = 15:00 (3:00PM) - 17:00 (5.00PM), previous day
GMT - 11 = 16:00 (4.00PM) - 18:00 (6.00PM), previous day
GMT - 10 = 17:00 (5.00PM) - 19:00 (7.00PM), previous day
GMT - 09 = 18:00 (6.00PM) - 20:00 (8.00PM), previous day
GMT - 08 = 19:00 (7.00PM) - 21:00 (9.00PM), previous day
GMT - 07 = 20:00 (8.00PM) - 22:00 (10.00PM), previous day
GMT - 06 = 21:00 (9.00PM) - 23:00 (11.00PM), previous day
GMT - 05 = 22:00 (10.00PM), previous day - 00:00 (MIDNIGHT), same day
GMT - 04 = 23:00 (11.00PM), previous day - 01:00 (1.00AM), same day
GMT - 03 = 00:00 (MIDNIGHT) - 02:00 (2.00AM), same day
GMT - 02 = 01:00 (1.00AM) - 03:00 (3.00AM), same day

GMT + 00 = 03:00 (3.00AM) - 05:00 (5.00AM), same day

If you are unsure of your time zone, please use this GMT Converter website.

Wait a minute! You play Happy Fish at those times but do not meet the golden dolphin? The golden dolphin has two more secrets...

Step 1: Get connected to the Internet during your appointment with the golden dolphin.

Step 2: Tap on Happy Fish app.

Step 3: Tap PLAY to enter your aquarium.

Step 4: Close the NOTICE if it appears.

Step 5: Press HOME BUTTON once to get to the home screen.

Step 6: Tap on Happy Fish app.

Step 7: Wait for 2 to 3 seconds and the golden dolphin will magically appear in your aquarium!

There was once that the golden dolphin visited me for the third time in a day. When I tapped on PLAY, the golden dolphin said that I have played too many times. Perhaps I was too greedy to play the third time?

If you meet the golden dolphin for the third time in a day and could still play this mini game, feel free to leave a comment.
Happy golden dolphin hunting!
