Promo: Paper Airplane's Star Dream
Happy Fish introduced an interesting promo on April 13 - Paper Airplane's Star Dream. You guessed it right - you gotta fly some paper airplanes to the night sky this time!
This promo originally begins on April 13 and ends on April 25. However, most players could not see this new promo appearing on Fantastic Activities page on April 13. After Happy Fish fixed the issue, the promo period was modified a bit - begins on April 14 and ends on April 26.
I noticed that most players outside of Taiwan (where Happy Fish Dream Aquarium's server is located) have difficulties in knowing when promos (activities) actually end due to timezone difference. I will be adding activity countdowns in related posts, hopefully doing this could help players to avoid missing the last day of the promo - especially in collecting rewards.
The biggest reward for this promo is the Blue Squid - you can have one if you manage to collect 200 blue stars in the game. Another bonus would be perhaps the Mango Cachalot - you can have this if you collect 60 yellow stars in the game.
P.S. You could consider keeping the paper airplanes collected daily and only use all of them a day or two before the promo ends. After you have flown a few paper airplanes, you will get a bonus time of five (5) minutes - when this happens, the whole night sky is filled with stars and it will be easier to collect more stars this way.

Promo: Eat the Yuanxiao
"Eat the Yuanxiao" is the latest promo activity on Happy Fish (only for iOS players). Yuanxiao, aka "tangyuan", is a popular sweet Chinese dessert made by mixing glutinous rice (this type of rice is sticky) with water, thus forming the sweet rice balls. The Chinese people normally consume them during the Lantern Festival, Winter Solstice, weddings or even family reunions. If you have a sweet tooth, feel free to learn to make some tangyuan yourself!
About this Promo
This promo activity only lasts for twelve days, from 25 February 2015 to 8 March 2015. For this promo activity, there are only two modes for you to attempt - Easy Mode and Hard Mode. Regardless of which mode you are attempting, my advice would be - please get a friend to play this promo with you. It is really much much easier this way.
You will need to attempt Easy Mode first because Hard Mode is locked, until you have fulfilled its requirements. To unlock Hard Mode, you can either play Easy Mode seven times or fulfill Dr. Octopus' satiation four times in Easy Mode (feed him until he has enough "yuanxiao").
Tickets...tickets...get your tickets...
First thing first, you must remember to login daily and claim your free tickets. Two free tickets are given out each day. If you miss one day, you miss two free tickets. If, for whatever reasons that you may have, you do not use up your tickets, they ARE NOT FORFEITED...until the promo ends. So, do not worry if you forgot to use up your tickets, they will still be there tomorrow (they will disappear when the promo disappears).
More tickets please??
There you go again, always complaining that you do not have enough tickets...well, who doesn't want more tickets, right? Okay, I'm not supposed to leak out this secret (Dr. Octopus is going to bash me up if he finds out, so please don't tell him that you heard this from me) but you can actually claim three free tickets each day. Where can you get the third ticket from? Do you see where the finger is pointing towards in the below photo? Yes, yes, that orange button which says" Go get it". Go ahead and "go get it".
Not to worry, you do not need to purchase the tickets (unless you really want to, buying ten tickets seem to be a really good deal). You can actually exchange 30X Golden Spoon gems for one free ticket each day!
The Golden Spoon gem is produced by the very exclusive Dumpling Soup Fish. The Dumpling Soup Fish could only be purchased during a past promotion. If you do not have a Dumpling Soup Fish and you do not have enough Golden Spoon gems, you can always visit your friends' aquarium. Most players have released Dumpling Soup Fish into their aquariums. Hurry and visit your friends today!
This promo is not that hard, but you need to pay attention and act quickly. A row of "yuanxiao" (they look like colorful balls) will appear on top of Dr. Octopus (dressed in a Chinese headgear). Dr. Octopus is hungry and he wants to eat his yuanxiao. The problem is the yuanxiao are in different colors...There are two or three buttons at the bottom of the promo page, depending on whether you are attempting Easy Mode or Hard Mode. In Easy Mode, there will be two buttons with different colors, corresponding to the row of "yuanxiao" in the challenge.
The aim of the game is to tap on the button which color corresponds with the "yuanxiao" (the first one appearing before you). For example, if the color of the "yuanxiao" is purple, then tap on the purple button. Remember, try to get a friend to play this promo with you.
There are two bars beside Dr. Octopus, one on the left, one of the right. The left bar is the satiation bar - this actually represents the number of "yuanxiao" that Dr. Octopus wants to eat before he is satisfied (that's why it is called the satiation bar). The right bar is the combo bar - the more combos you create, the more bonuses you get.
What do I get??
If you do well in this promo, you can get a Dumpling Fish and a Wish Lantern Fish! In order to get both fishes, you have no choice but to attempt both Easy Mode and Hard Mode.
Am I the only one who feels that the name of this fish is familiar to another one??

Promo: Bubble Story
As Happy Tap Tap promo is coming to an end, Happy Fish Dream Aquarium is quick (really, really, let me say again, REALLY quick) to introduce yet another new promo. What is it this time? If you check out the Fantastic Activities page, you will see a NEW promo called BUBBLE STORY! Don't worry, this promo is less hectic as compared to Happy Tap Tap (I really like hitting on the head of the evil Dr. Octopus...do you?)
In case you are lost (as in I-have-no-idea-what-Bubble-Story-is-about), feel free to read through the following guidelines before you embark on this new adventure...
When does the game begin and end?
The game has already started since 30 January 2015 and it will end on 7 February 2015...that means you should hurry and play the game now!
Stages...Fields??
There are four stages available - Field 1, Field 2, Field 3 and "Repeatab". This time, Happy Fish is kind enough to give a DEMO (Happy Fish should include demo in each promo, don't you agree?) in Field 1. Fret not if you have no idea how this game works because you will have a foretaste of it in Field 1. Just watch and learn how the obstacles are removed in Field 1, and Field 1 will be cleared before you know it.
P.S. I am not showing snapshots of DEMO here since it is better that you experience it for yourself.
Aim of the game
Remove obstacles in the pathway of Hero Yang and Lady Dragon so that the couple can meet. Ta da! Stage cleared!
P.S. Hero Yang and Lady Dragon characters are adapted from The Legend of Condor Heroes, a very popular martial arts novel written by Jin Yong. Consider them China martial arts version of Romeo and Juliet...
Wait!! What obstacles are we talking about?
There are basically two types of obstacles presented - breakable and indestructible. Bear in mind that you can only remove BREAKABLE obstacles, such as pink flowers, weeds and grass hedge (with a love pattern engraved on the top). Do not bother about indestructible obstacles - no matter how hard you try, they will not go away.
Some breakable obstacles look like this:
And some indestructible obstacles look like this:
In the promo itself, there is a diagram provided on breakable and indestructible obstacles:
Alright...so how do I remove the breakable obstacles?
That's simple - you just need to use bubbles, yes BUBBLES. In this game, bubbles act as bombs, also known as BUBBLE BOMB! When you place a bubble in between two or more BREAKABLE obstacles (e.g. between two flowers), the bubble will explode and remove the obstacles in the process.
The two grass hedges near Hero Yang were removed after a bubble was placed between them!
P.S. Observe that the indestructible obstacles still remain as where they were before the bubble exploded.
Now then, where can I get these incredible bubbles?
Not to worry...you will be getting three free bubbles each day as long as you remember to visit this promo page daily.

What?! You want more bubbles? Alright then, don't tell Dr. Octopus that I leaked out this secret to you, but you can actually exchange 10X Sakura Petals (gems produced by Sakura Fish) to get additional ONE bubble EACH DAY. Aw come on, don't be greedy now!
Tap on the ADDITION sign as shown below.
Nobody is going to stop you from making purchases, but why not claim your free fourth bubble if you have enough Sakura Petals to exchange with?
Uh...I have no idea what is a Sakura Fish & Sakura Petal gem?
Hmmmhh...I don't blame you, there are way too many new fish being introduced already. Be sure to release Sakura Fish (which has already produced the Sakura Petal gem) into your aquarium. Friends in need are friends indeed?
What is "Repeatab" stage?
After you have cleared Field 2 and Field 3, you can access "Repeatab" stage. "Repeatab" stage has more obstacles to be removed, but not to worry, you still use bubbles to remove them as usual. Nothing changes, but you will require more bubbles to clear the stage. Each time you successfully remove the obstacles, you will be rewarded with points AND a new layout will be presented to you in "Repeatab" stage! What does this mean? Well...you can play "Repeatab" stage AS MANY TIMES as you want, as long as you have enough bubbles.
If you have completed Field 2 and Field 3, you will be given access to "Repeatab" stage. "Repeatab" stage can be attempted as many times as you want - there is no time limit nor do you need to wait for game reset.
This is how a "Repeatab" stage looks like - the maze is full of obstacles for you to remove. The obstacles will be placed randomly each time you get a new layout. Be prepared to use between five to seven bubbles to clear this stage.
I need more points! How do I get them?
I have digged out a secret from Dr. Octopus today, don't tell him that I've shared his secret with you. This method is especially useful in "Repeatab" stage, since you will require many more bubbles to clear this stage. Here are two secrets:
Yesterday, I only had five bubbles but I need at least six bubbles to complete this stage. I kept my five bubbles and waited until today for another four bubbles. Today I finally have nine bubbles and I could complete this stage!
The DOUBLE POINTS will only be awarded if you can complete the stage within ten minutes. Make sure that you have at least six or seven bubbles before you start using your bubbles.
What do I get in return for reuniting Hero Yang and Lady Dragon?
Each time you successfully remove the obstacles or complete the stage, you will be rewarded with points. You can use these points to exchange for any of these below;
That is all that needs to be told...now go ahead and try to win yourself the exclusive pair of Hero Yang and Lady Dragon.
P.S. Take your time in understanding the maze, do not confuse yourself between the breakable and indestructible obstacles. Happy Fishing!

Promo: Spring Festival 2014

These Red Envelopes are known as Hong Bao in Mandarin. Hong Bao are envelopes containing cash, given to children and unmarried adults during Spring Festival/Chinese New Year.
And now...what are these Red Envelopes for?? The answer is in the latest promo page.
Tap the Gift Box.
A new promo page called Spring Festival will appear. This promo has started and it will end on 10 February 2014. Do you see five octopus dressed in colorful lion costumes? These are called Nian (literally translated as "year" in Mandarin). Your goal is to defeat five different colors of Nian, in order to claim a special gift - a little horse!
Go to the second promo page. The little horse is shown here, surrounded by 5 colors crystal ball. You can redeem this horse once you have collected one each of the 5 colors crystal ball.
Are you ready to fight Nian? Let's return to the first promo page. This page also shows the number of Red Envelopes you have collected so far. Once you have at least two Red Envelopes, you can play this promo game.
To fight a Nian, you need to use two Red Envelopes each time. Tap COME OUT to summon a Nian and tap CONFIRM on the pop up message.
A Nian will appear on the left side of the promo page. The Nian shown here is green. You will also need gems to defeat Nian. The possible rewards for defeating Nian include a crystal ball, shell vouchers, XP and coins. Please take note that there is no guarantee of getting a crystal ball each time.
Tap BEAT MONSTER and CONFIRM on the pop up message.
Sometimes this Nian is not yet knocked out in the first round. You will have to fight Nian the second round, after waiting for 5 minutes.
After you have defeated a Nian, you can claim your reward. Tap on GET REWARD. If you are rewarded with a crystal ball, it will automatically be added to the second promo page. If you are rewarded with shell vouchers, XP or coins, they will be sent through the system message.
Hurry and defeat Nian before it runs away after 10 February!
